    I FIXED MINE.

I was in the same boat as you all.  But, my watch is now reset and has a charge all the way up to 60% so far(its only been about an hour).

    Here is what I did:

    1. Left watch OFF charger for a day.

    2. Put watch on charger and charge for 15 minutes.

    3. While watch still on charger, hold watch steady and hold in side button until you feel a long vibrate.  About 15 seconds.

    4. Still on the charger, the watch rebooted and let me into settings.  I right away went into settings and factory reset.

    5. Still on charger, the watch went thru its reset process.

    6. I just left the watch on charger for another 30 minutes(Your time could be shorter?)

    7. Went up and took watch off charger, pressed screen and it was ready to setup with my phone.  It was also showing a battery level.  so, it was charging finally.

    8. Paired and set up to phone.  its now charging and appears fine, I keep checking.

    Good luck!!

Hi, yes, no issues charging to 100%. Took off charger just this morning before work. It was 100% and now 9 hours later it's at 80%.

    Hello All,

There is no meaning in posting your complaint here, nothing will happen. I had a battery charging issue with my Diesel Full Guard 2.5, I just visited he fossil service center they said it is a known issue and replaced my watch with Diesel Gen5 DARK GREY Axial Smartwatch - Gunmetal-Tone Stain.!! With no extra cost and 2 years warranty. So please visit the near fossil service center.

    From my experience...

I have a Fossil Gen 4 and had the battery problems last year which culminated with the outer charge ring falling off.

I sent the watch back for service, first time they replaced the back but when it came back it still wouldn't charge, so it went back and the battery was replaced.

It came back and charged OK for about 2 months, before it stopped again.

I noticed that the outer charge ring was detaching again. I looks like it's stuck on with some kind of rubber solution glue which softens with the heat off your wrist or moisture.

I took the outer ring off completely and cleaned the glue off it and the groove in the watch. I then used a small amount of gorilla superglue to stick it back in, making sure I didn't get any in the little hole in the back where the ring connects to the watch via a small pin on the ring.

So far, I'm 6 weeks on and no problems charging, or with the ring detaching.

I would recommend to anyone that when you take your watch off, press the charge rings back in and leave the watch to cool down for a bit before connecting the charger. The magnetic attachment of the charger pulls the rings off, and letting it cool down will re-set the glue to stop the rings from moving.

    Hope this helps :)

RICHARD CRAIG, thanks for sharing your fix.  I also read about the charging ring coming off in earlier versions so that was one of the first things I looked at.  It still seems intact but I'll look more closely tonight.  Until it stopped charging, the watch was great.  I was getting great battery life so no issues there until it just refused to charge.  For a 3 month old, $300 watch, it's really not acceptable.  It seems that many people posting here have the same problem with new or almost new watches.  I want to see what Fossil will do about this or this is going be my first and last anything-Fossil-related purchase.

I was gifted a new fossil smartwatch DW9F2 watch yesterday. Tried to charge it straight out of the box would not charge past 60%. When it drained down to 5% tried to charge it and it would not charge overnight.

Played around with the charger and it began charging got up to 60% again then dropped to 5% within an hour. Then would not charge -tried it again and it went up to 40% in about half hour.

Then would not charge again. I looked it up online and came across a mountain of complaints about the same issue.

I have purchased numerous Fossil watches over the past 15 years and loved them up until yesterday. This is not the build quality or brand reliability I believed I would get with Fossil product. As an earlier poster said why are you dispatching these devices when there appears to be a common known defect - what are you going to do to fix this problem??

    I have a fossil generation 5 smartwatch.
It worked fine for 5 weeks and today won't charge and Continues to say 66% charged.
Rebooting and complete reset , reinstall and update not helping at all.
I had a gen 4 for 3 weeks that had this problem too but would then charge after a reboot for the first couple of weeks. Eventually it wouldn't charge after a reboot or reset so returned it and was refunded weeks later.
I cannot believe I am unlucky enough to get a faulty watch twice unless there is a major FLAW in this watch's design.
What are you doing to address this problem that I am assuming affects a large percentage of your smartwatches.

I have tried the above instructions and they did not work.I received my watch as a gift and after 10 months, I started having this problem while I was on vacation. I went to a store and they were not able to help me, just gave me a phone number to call. I am really disappointed with my first experience with a Michael Kors watch. I expected better, especially for the price. And since this was a gift, I do not have a receipt.

I am having the same issue with my Carlyle Smartwartch. I was fully charged, I took it off the charger and when I went to use it, it was off. Tried to put it back on the charger because I thought I may have been mistaken and it was not fully charged. Now it won't charge and will not turn on, I left it off the charger for a day. My watch flashed with the battery charging icon, then the logo came on the screen and it shut off. This is very frustrating and I have not even had it for two months yet.

I have a Fossil Gen 4 smartwatch that was running fine for 6+ months. One day the back base came off. Took it to the store and they sent it for repair and I received the watch back on Feb 15. Put it to charge and after it was full, I reset the watch and connected it to my phone. Wore it the whole day and came back home and put it to charge and it won't charge after that. I don't have a clue why after the reset and new connectivity to my phone, it just stopped charging!
Pls help. Tried long press of the middle button. Tried long press of all 3 buttons, nothing helps.

If I long press the middle button, it shows the charging bolt symbol but if I short press the middle button, it shows the battery with a red indicator.

I bought my watch today read the instructions and saw the issues people have been having but my watch hasn't turned on at all since unboxing it I have had in charging for almost an hour now and no luck. I tried a few different outlets in the house and even hooked it into my computer.

My Gen4 explorist HR is not charging at all.
When i connect it to the charger, i would occasionally show the "charging" sign or the "low battery" sign, then the screen would turn off and remain that way!
It is really disappointing to know that this is the first smart watch I'm buying (choosing Fossil as my first brand) and having to go through something like this after only 3 weeks of using it!

Almost 2 months to the day and my Gen 4 Q Explorist HR has stopped charging. I bought it on February 7th brand new and have had no problems whatsoever until today when I put it on the charger and it won't charge.

The rings on the back appear to be fine with no noticeable damage or anything.

I've tried cleaning the rings on the back and cleaning the charger. I can feel the magnet click in place so I know it's on there correctly. I've tried letting it sit for an hour turned off and not on the charger. When I turn it on and put it on the charger... nothing... no little lightning bolt and the battery % is going down. The screen comes on for now because I still have about 22% left in the battery.

Not very happy about this because I was really liking the watch.

    Update #1:

I let it sit on the charger all night and woke-up to the watch actually still being on but with only 8% left on the battery. Now I'm going to leave it off the charger for 24 hours and see what that does.

    Update #2:

Yeah, nothing. 36 hours later and watch is now dead and won't charge.

I just got my Fossil Sport Smartwatch the other day. Paired up and worked great. Battery didn't last the day, put it on the charger and it showed 100%. Went to put it on this morning and it won't start. When I try and reset it all it does is flash the Fossil logo and then the low battery logo. Tried doing a hard reset on it but it still just does the same. If I put it on the charger it just flashes the charge logo and doesn't actually charge.

Purchased a Fossil Sport Smartwatch at Best Buy. I'm experiencing the same charging issues mentioned by others. No matter how long I have my watch on the charger, it will not charge. I've tried having it off for a day, long button presses, and nothing happens. It's just dead. Hugely disappointed in the product. Performance prior to the charger issue was very buggy as well. Should I return to Best Buy or will Fossil refund me?

I’m having this issue right now. I received the Carlyle Smartwatch for Christmas last year and I’m having issues already. The watch is less then five month’s old and issues with it already!  I really hope this trick works because I ordered four new straps that are finally arriving today and I had to wait about three weeks just to get them. Glad I ordered all of them at once if it’s gonna take this long to ship them. But now I’m actually more worried if the watch is actually gonna work or not.

So it appears that in reading this thread, that fossil might be aware of the flaw in the charging of the watches. I have the Kate Spade and have now gone through 3 charging cords , they last about 3 to 4 months on average. my watch is intermittent in staying charged a day or for 2 hours. it always shows 100% ... when I have a working charger. I got this as a belated mother's day gift last year after I lost my Samsung watch and thought it was great. until it stopped charging. and this is now getting ridiculous. fossil wants to charge me for a cord or they want me to return my watch for them to look at and repair. I'm not too keen on returning items for repair when I'm fairly certain my problem will be fixed with yet another charging cord... if I pay for one. which I'm convinced are just not working to charge the Kate Spade scallop. it's off right now, trying that one person who shut off, charged and restarted and it charged. I'm just not sure what they can do... but I like my watch... when it charges!!!

Just reading all these complaints about the Fossil android Wear watches breaks my heart. I just unboxed my Fossil Gen 5 last night and it hasn't turned on after leaving it on the charger that came in the box for 20hrs. Like everyone else here the watch randomly flashes the lightening bolt/battery icon 30 or 60 times then flashes the Fossil logo and stops flashing altogether. Efforts to turn the watch on has been futile. Its practically a dead watch out of the box. It's sad especially because I love Fossil as a brand and it was an advance gift from my wife for Father's day 😁.

I have 2 other smart watches currently (galaxy watch & Ticwatch Pro) & I'd fancied Fossil gen 5 for its design but none of my previous smartwatches ever came dead brand new.

I can't return my watch or send it in for repairs cos it was shipped to me all the way from the US so I really need a solution/fix.

Is this a dead charger problem or is the watch itself a dud?

Update: while I was changing my watch strap I was able to restart my watch by holding in the middle button for a while (not sure how long) and now everything seems to be working fine. I know i was holding the button in for a few minutes because I was having a little trouble getting the strap changed on the watch. Try holding the middle or main button in for a few minutes to see if it will restart your watch. Hope you all get everything worked out. Cheers.

Recently, I started having charging issue. It keeps on beeping(when you keep the watch on charge you get beep) while keeping it on charge as if power is coming and going. Clean the back of the watch with clean cloth to remove any dust or anything which is creating problems for charging still no luck :(

My watch must be defective. It will not react to a charger it dies at 44% or once it i finagle it to turn on and it gets fully charged its dead in under 5 hours every time none of battery saving options work or save any time. Watch is brand new. What kind of watch do you take off every 3 hours to charge it... I have a charger coming from amazon today and ill try that before i ask for a refund.

    SOLVED
After watched a YouTube video I started to see all comments and found one which says that battery could be with low charge, so he suggested to put it in the freezer for a few minutes and then again on charging cable. I did it for 5 minutes. Done. Works perfectly!

I am also facing the same issue.
The battery was at 5% and all of sudden went to 0 and now I am not able to charge it.
Whenever I keep the charging, its showing the battery symbol with charging and then immediately showing battery symbol with red bars.

Please help me with this. The watch not coming up.

My Gen 5 Garrett has turned off and won't turn back on.  Left it on charge overnight and it never indicated that it was taking a charge.  I really like this watch but the unreliability is extremely frustrating.
